Web design for bakeries

Bakery websites that take the order for you

If people order by DM, you're answering the same questions all day: what sizes, how much, how far ahead, when can I pick it up. A good bakery website answers all of that, then takes the order and the payment.

What a bakery website has to do

  1. Make the food look as good as it is

Large, honest photos. Show the inside of a cake when the inside is the point.

  2. A real menu with real prices

Sizes, prices, what's inside, allergens and minimum quantities. If something isn't for sale, it doesn't show up.

  3. Know how far ahead you need the order

Order-ahead times per item, and pickup slots that follow your actual hours.

  4. Take payment up front

Card payments at checkout, so a no-show doesn't cost you the cake.

  5. Let you change prices without calling anyone

Menu and prices live in one simple file or sheet you control.

  6. Fill the holidays before they arrive

Instagram and Facebook ads to people nearby ahead of Valentine's, Mother's Day and wedding season. See Meta Ads.

Questions

Do I need Shopify or Square to sell online?

No. Helen Kandy Bakery's ordering runs on Stripe for payments and a simple spreadsheet for orders, with no monthly platform fee. If you already use Square or Shopify, we can work with it.

Can customers request custom cakes?

Yes. A custom order form collects the date, servings, design ideas and photos, so you can quote without ten back-and-forth messages.

Can I update the menu myself?

Yes. That's a requirement on every bakery site we build.
